Derek Gentle

Pastor Gentle emphasizes practical preaching and teaching from the Bible, lacing his messages with a little dry humor. He is a native of the Birmingham, Alabama area and is a graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. His wife, Sheila, is a Title I teacher at Tallassee Elementary School. Barry Tice, Minister of Education

Barry oversees the educational ministry of the church, which includes Sunday School.  He also plans and coordinates several mission trips each year.  Barry does a good bit of Christian counseling, as he holds a masters degree in counseling from UAB and a Masters of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Prior to coming to Tallassee, he served the First Baptist Church of Jasper. He and his wife, Debbie, an elementary school teacher, have two grown sons.  Start Date: June, 2010

Brandon Fomby, Student Minister

Brandon leads our youth ministry for grades 7-12. This includes a balance of biblical teaching and recreation. Brandon is a Tallassee native and graduated from Tallassee High School.  A graduate of Samford University, he is working on his Master in Divinity degree through New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Brandon comes to us from Harvest Baptist Church in the Huntsville area, where he led a large youth group. Start Date: April, 2016

Stacey Pitts, Director of Preschool & Children’s Ministries

Stacey oversees the activities and education program of preschoolers and children, birth through sixth grade. She is a native of Elmore County. Stacey is a graduate of Troy University and holds a master’s degree from Alabama State University in counseling.  Her undergraduate work, togehter with her undergraduate degrees in sociology and psychology provide her with a strong understanding of child development. Coming to us, she had five years of experience in children’s ministry in church settings. Start Date: May 22, 2017

Michael Scarborough, Minister of Music & Worship

Michael leads worship in the worship services and oversees the age-graded music ministry of the church. He is from Slocomb, Alabama and is a graduate of Florida Baptist College. He comes to us from Thomsaville, Alabama where he served Thomasville Baptist Church for ten years. He and his wife, Brandi,  have a son, Silas. Start Date: July 9, 2017
