First Baptist Church   1279 Friendship Road   Tallassee, Alabama 36078
First Baptist exists to experience, celebrate, and share God’s grace. We affirm six main functions as the means of so doing: Christ-centered worship, Biblical instruction, prayer, world evangelization, nurturing fellowship, and caring acts.
Disaster Relief First Baptist has a Disaster Relief Team that works through Alabama Baptist Disaster Relief.  We have members trained for chain saw, mud-out, feeding units, heavy equipment, and chaplaincy.  The team has been deployed in at least six states. Training and a background check is required, but you can be involved in Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.

Ministries at First Baptist
Community Ministries Which We Support These are not ministries under the umbrella of First Baptist Church, but are ministries which our church supports financially and in which First Baptist members are actively involved.
LifeChoice Prograncy Center LifeChoice Pregnancy Center is a non-profit organization which caters to women in unwanted or unplanned pregnancies. We do not do abortions nor do we refer for abortions. In fact, very few of our clients are abortion-minded. LifeChoice offers FREE pregnancy tests and there is an "Earn While You Learn" program for mothers-to-be and mothers who already have babies or children up to 2 years of age. Once a week a client comes to the Center, watches a video, and earns “Mommy Dollars” to “purchase” clothes and other baby supplies. LifeChoice Preganancy Center
ACTS: Association of Christians in Tallassee for Service. ACTS provides food boxes, clothing, and assistance with utility bills. Churches support the work of ACTS through their budgets, offerings for the Christmas Baskets, and the “Angel Tree” Christmas presents their members purchase for needy children. Members from numerous area churches are involved this ministry and in Jobs for Life, which is a ministry of ACTS. ACTS was founded in the mid-1980’s by the churches in Tallassee as a one-stop clearing house to assist people in time of need. Churches working together can do more to help people than they could apart. This collaborative effort reduces waste and duplication.  ACTS is located at 308 Main Street, across from PrimeSouth Bank in Carrville, and is open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 9:00 AM until Noon.
Elmore Baptist Association This is a fellowship of over 40 Southern Baptist Churches, located in Elmore County, joined together for mutual encouragement, training opportunities, and joint ministry projects.  These projects include our Hispanic ministry, mission trips, and the Backpack Ministry at Tallassee Elementary School.  In this ministry, food is provided for children who may not be getting enough to eat over the weekend.  Plastic bags of food are discreetly distributed to the children on Fridays.  First Baptist is one of several participating churches.
Carpenters for Christ This group has built wheelchairm ramps and assisted those in need with basic repairs and construction. They have also done construction and repair work outside the South. If you like to work with your hands, you can become involved in this ministry.
Mission Trips First Baptist is committed to assisting in starting new churches  outside the South and supporting sister churches internationally. This commitment includes sending mission teams to such places as Montana, New York, and Ecuador.
