The Jerusalem Council (9-22-24)

When a group of believing Jews insisted that circumcision was required in order for Gentile believers to be truly saved, they and Paul and Barnabas went to the leaders of the church in Jerusalem for guidance. After hearing their testimony along with Peter's story of what God had done at the home of Cornelieus, the church leaders affirmed that circumcision was not required for salvation and that Gentile believers should "abstain from what has been sacrificed to idols, from blood, from what has been strangled, and from sexual immorality"--four practices related to idol worship of that day.
