Gamaliel's Advice to the Sanhedrin (7-14-24)

Jul 14, 2024    Dr. Jim Glass

When Peter and the apostles were brought before the Sanhedrin for disobeying their orders, Peter said, "We must obey God rather than men," and told them why they were compelled to proclaim the Lord Jesus. His words sent the Sanhedrin into an uproar, but Gamaliel, a highly-respected Pharisee, told them not to worry, giving two examples from history that showed how similar movements had failed. But he also told them that, if what was happening was of God, they could not stop it. The apostles were flogged and warned again, but they left praising God for having been counted worthy to suffer for the Lord and returned to the Temple to tell the people about Jesus.
